The Gandhi Education for Development organisation aims to support marginalized populations outside of the caste system through education. It provides moral and financial support to the Indian association Gandhi Seva Ashram’s actions, which works for the social and economic development of these populations, formerly known as "untouchables", and for their integration into the Indian society in the Udupi district located in the Karnataka region of South-West India.

India covers 3,300,000 km² and has the largest population in the world after China. According to the latest geographical forecasts, there will be 1.4 billion people by 2022 in India. Apart from being very dense in demographic terms, India is also a country with an extremely rich cultural diversity where more than 1600 languages are spoken. These languages divide into several families, the largest of which are Dravidian in the south of the country and Indo-European in the north.
Education for Development, with Gandhi Sevam Ashram, works with the non-caste populations of the Karnataka region in Southwest India. Its goal is to enable the integration of these populations into Indian society. In the district of Udupi, these populations belong to very distinct tribes such as the Koraga, the Kunbi, the Adidravidas, migrant workers...
Tutoring for Dalit children from marginalized communities in the Udupi district.
Deodas Shetty has set up an educational support system based on Gandhi's philosophy. The main goal of this system has been to show parents, most of whom haven’t had the chance to receive an education, that education can be beneficial for their children and that, despite the injustices endured, the learning process can help them become full and active members of Indian society.
1 - Reaching 10 academic and educational support centres
Like with the existing centres, to involve the parents in participating in the centre’s functioning is an essential condition to open two more centres. The measures to take are :
- to create a committee of parents;
- to find a place while ensuring the electricity supply;
- to find a teacher for a centre;
- to procure a minimum of school equipment and books.

In 2018, the troupe performed Le Repas des Fauves by Vahé Katcha. All benefits collected during the evening reception go to our organisation.
The general meeting of our organisation usually takes place on the same day as the performance.
